ABOUT THE JOB

The Group Vice President, International (The GVP, International) is responsible leading GSF’s business with primary focus in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. The GVP, International will be responsible for financial performance, strategic direction, operational performance, formulating and administering company policies and long-range goals, and managing customer relationships.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The GVP, International will lead a business with revenues currently in excess of USD250 million and servicing over 30 export markets. They will lead 1,400 employees based throughout Australia, New Zealand, China, and Egypt. The role will include oversight responsibility of processing operations in Produce, Dairy, and Liquid Products categories and across seven manufacturing facilities.


The GVP, International will have a primary focus on maximizing growth opportunities in ANZ (Liquids) and China (Produce and Dairy).  As GSF refines its strategic focus, this will be key to driving the right outcomes for the International Business Group moving forward.

 

The role entails end-to-end supply chain management including managing a diverse range of customers across foodservice, QSR, and retail channels. Established teams in each business have full scope of business operations and commercial support functions. The role is also accountable for ensuring that operations and activities are in keeping with its client’s corporate business standards and objects and are in full compliance with the national, financial, legal and statutory
requirements.

 

The GSF international business includes the following operational facilities:

  • GSF Fresh New Zealand (Produce)
  • GSF Fresh Australia (Produce)
  • GSF Groenz (Liquid Products)
  • GSF Fresh China (Produce)
  • GSF Kanpak China (Dairy)
  • GSF MEA Liquid Products (Liquids)
  • GSF MEA Distribution (Distribution)

These businesses include six separate P&Ls.  This role will have seven direct reports, a structure that may evolve over time.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Full P&L responsibility, people leadership and KPI reporting involving all aspects of the business for International.
  • Design and implement a business plan that will underpin the company’s expansion in international markets. The GVP, International will need to identify and analyze major market segments with respect to market structure and the existence of major players.
  • Identify and provide advice on potential international/economic obstacles to operations development opportunities.
  • Direct and manage the business to achieve plans, objectives and coordinate goals and measurable targets for all aspects of the business. Build an effective organization structure to deliver.
  • Lead strategy development and execution within agreed budget.
  • Develop innovative and new ideas to increase market share.
  • Promote a safe working environment and safety ownership culture.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, established international customers and potential new customers. Drive customer data to leverage business relationships; adapt business plan accordingly.
  • Develop sales and maintain customer relationships with the international customer base to achieve profitable growth. Demonstrate excellence in the go-to-market approach and customer experience.
  • Lead planning, organization, control, integration, completion and operations of facility startup projects.
  • Lead the provision of technical advice and problem resolution support across the business.
    Coordinate activities from supplier to customer to improve operational efficiency and economy.
  • Hold Operations responsible for maintaining high standards.
  • Ensure exemplary quality performance as measured by customer audit scores, concern data and internal audits

Qualifications

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and experience equivalent to:

Education/Certification:

University Degree in Engineering, Food Science or Agricultural Science, Commerce, International Business or related degree.

 

Experience:

  • Proven track record of P&L leadership across a growing food product, distribution and
    manufacturing business.
  • Successfully formulated direction and strategy, converting into delivered results.
  • Senior leadership experience in the food service category; ideally with both QSR and
    HoReCa channel exposure.
  • Strong international market leadership background with a diverse knowledge of markets, customers, and cultures.
  • Extensive knowledge of food supply chains.
  • Experience working in an international organization is advantageous
  • Experience leading diverse teams across multiple geographies
  • Experience in the Chinese market is an advantage, but not mandatory.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong people leadership, management, team building and development skills.
  • Hands on when needed.
  • Knowledge of product processing process and equipment capabilities, construction, project management and ability to function successfully in foreign environment.
  • Marketing/sales and business development skills.
  • Well-developed customer relationship management skills with small to large organizations, ideally in the QSR and retail industries.
  • Financial knowledge and skills.
  • Working knowledge of national and international markets, business trends, cultures and

The anticipated base salary for this position is $250K - 300K.
