We are seeking an energetic, skilled​ Quality Assurance Manager for an opening in our facility in Arkansas City, Kansas. 

JOB SUMMARY: The Quality Assurance Manager drives improvement efforts focused on local manufacturing and laboratory practices.  This person is responsible for developing the existing food safety program and providing guidance on equipment selection, procedures, and validation activities in the laboratory.  This person works closely with customer relations and compliance auditors, demonstrating exemplary leadership behaviors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Quality Management –
   1. Coordinates actions to ensure company and customer satisfaction objectives are met
   2. Contributes to division goals and objectives for growth
   3. Manages local food safety plan and related pre-requisites programs
   4. Selects laboratory equipment, develops methods, and oversees the validation and calibration programs
   5. Ensure regulatory and audit readiness
   6. Designs reports and metrics to drive continuous improvement
   7. Has a key role within the Food Safety Team
   8. Ensures timely release of finished products
   9. Directs investigation of consumer complaints
   10. Meets with customers and team members at all levels of the organization to coordinate activities related to trials, new productions, new equipment, or significant changes
   11. Participates in and leads audits and root cause analysis activities
   12. Provides coverage for other positions in the quality department as needed
2. Technical Support –
   1. Shares knowledge of statistical process controls to improve processing methods
   2. Working knowledge of GLPs and can provide support in general food microbiology and chemistry applications
   3. Serves as a resource in validating process equipment and sample testing methods
   4. Offers guidance to the leadership team relating to FDA and PMO regulatory compliance
      
      

3. Social Responsibilities: 

   • • Maintain compliance with KanPak/GSF Code of Business Conduct, policies and procedures, management systems, and all applicable Environmental, Health, Safety and other regulations

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree in food science, chemistry, microbiology, or other STEM

Experience:

≥ 5 years in food manufacturing or R&D (Quality Assurance experience preferred)

≥ 3 years in a supervisory capacity

Training/Other:

Knowledge of Sanitation, GMPs, and HACCP

• HACCP certification
• Sanitation/hygiene training certification
• GSFI certification (BRC desired)
• Better Process Control School (desired)
• PCQI certification (desired)
• Six Sigma or other lean manufacturing experience (desired)

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Can look at a computer, walk, stand, and/or sit for long periods
• Can lift 50lbs
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
