Overview

Job Overview: The EHS Supervisor develops and implements EHS activities to maximize safety for all plant employees to include required training. He or she also ensures environmental compliance through administration of the facility Environmental Management System including Wastewater operations.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Develops, plans, and conducts EHS meetings and training programs to ensure understanding of EHS compliance.
  2. Identifies and evaluates hazardous conditions and practices, developing practices and programs to correct or reduce their occurrence.
  3. Develops and maintains the facility Environmental Management System in accordance with ISO 14001-15 standards.
  4. Ensures preparation and delivery of all relevant training and ensures training materials are compliant with all customers, governmental and company EHS directives and policies.
  5. Assists in overseeing the wastewater operations to ensure compliance with any required permits/other legal requirements and to ensure the safe and successful operation of the treatment plant.
  6. Processes workers’ compensation claims (including doctor appointments, first insurance reports, payment of medical bills, review of medical reports, and contact with doctors, insurers, lawyers, and employee counseling) to ensure responsiveness, accuracy, thoroughness, and timeliness.
  7. Investigates and responds to employee complaints, unemployment claims, and workers’ compensation claims to provide high quality internal customer service.
  8. Reviews company accident statistics and recommends corrections to improve overall employee health and safety.
  9. Investigates and reports on serious injuries occurring to line or staff employees and maintains the OSHA 300 log.
  10. Adheres to food safety, quality and legal compliance including environmental compliance. In the event of a crisis (i.e. product recall, fire, etc.) delegate responsibilities as outlined in the Crisis Communications and Management Guide.
  11. Adheres to safety, health and environmental standards of the facility.
  12. Performs other related and assigned duties as necessary.
  13. Floor present 50-70 Percent of time
  14. Lead Monthly Safety Committee Meeting
  15. Implement and maintain monthly safety requirement via Alchemy

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and experience equivalent to:

  • Considering entry level candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in an EHS discipline from an accredited college or university

-OR-

  • Candidates with 3+ years of relevant EHS work experience with or without a degree
