JOB SUMMARY:  Under the direction of our Quality Systems  Supervisor/ Manager an Intern in quality provides basic quality analysis and support on a variety of plant-wide projects. 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Conduct time study of various Quality Systems functions.
  2. Conduct analysis of fat claims to measure x-ray rejects.
  3. Perform SSOP/ATP review.
  4. Maintains accurate records and documentation of all tests.
  5. Work with Quality Systems staff to complete all task/projects on time.
  6. Work with Quality Systems staff to make oral/written presentations of findings.
  7. Other duties as assigned

  • Productivity/ quality standards: accuracy, timeliness, thoroughness
  • Productivity/ quality standards: production and process efficiency and quality
  • HACCP and GMP compliance
  • Project/ assignment standards
  • Customer satisfaction

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Must be pursuing an education and enrolled in college with a focus toward food science, animal/meat science, manufacturing, a similar emphasis

 

Experience:

A strong interest in understanding food processing and the process of quality assurance involved with the manufacturing of food type products

 

Knowledge of:

  • Basic PC word processing/ spreadsheet software
  • Basic Food Preparation Techniques/Safe Food Handling GMP’s
  • Basic Research Skills
  • Creativity and Passion to make food better
  • Basic Presentation Skills

Skill and ability to:

  • Communicate effectively with mentor verbally and in writing
  • Read, process, and follow written direction with a high degree of accuracy
  • Work effectively in a general business environment, with a focus on high levels of quality and customer service
  • Act in accordance with GSF's Values and Creed
