Overview

The Business Systems Analyst is accountable for delivering quality, comprehensive systems design, business requirements and business cases to the IT organization that will help to improve business efficiency and productivity once implemented.

Candidate will work in a corporate environment collaborating with managers and staff and should have a good understanding of core distribution processes such as: Finance setups and processes, Sales orders to cash, procurement to payables processes, and working knowledge WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) in a distribution environment is helpful. Systems used, but not limited to: ERP- JD Edwards, WMS – JDA/BlueYonder. Experience with these systems is a requirement for the role.

This is a hybrid role.

The starting salary range for this role is $110,000+, based on experience, and this role is bonus eligible.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

(% of time may vary depending on assignments/projects)

 

1.        Business Requirements

·        Follow a standard, structured process for the gathering and prioritizing business requirements.

·        Interview business users and SMEs to determine business requirements.

·        Analyze business unit existing systems and flows of data.

·        Develop and maintain information and documentation related to developing and modifying business processes and systems.

·        Engage in data modeling, technical analysis, and research alternatives for development of business requirements.

·        Translate requirements into highly specified project briefs or requirements packages.

·        Provide input into the development of business case and justification documents working with Business Consultants.

·        Detail the operations the system will perform, and the way data will be viewed by the user, present their design to the client and, once it is approved, collaborate closely with the client team to implement the solution.

·        Support the development of business justification documents from an IT perspective.

·        Provide costing/sizing for enhancement requests with collaboration across the IT organization.

2.        Business Solutions Design

·        Identify options for potential solutions and assess them for both technical and business suitability.

·        Create logical and innovative solutions to complex problems.

·        Draw up specific proposals for modified or replacement systems.

·        Ensure applications are designed to support instrumentation objectives, rapid enhancement objectives and will provide superior user experiences.

·        Produce project feasibility reports.

·        Collaborate closely with Architect, Application Development, and business units to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction.

·        Discuss findings with the business unit and design an appropriate improved IT solution.

·        Present design proposals/solutions to clients.

·        Proactively identify solutions to address potential systems, design, or business process issues and present to both IT and business stakeholders.

·        Understand current system limitations, pain points, and identify technical and process solutions to address root causes of issues.

3.        Business Solutions Testing

·        Develop the testing schedule and plan for the solution.

·        Create business and application use cases.

·        Investigate new features of application and related technology before release, providing feedback to application development as appropriate.

·        Conduct standard systems testing and user-acceptance testing.

·        Ensure changes are properly tested, communicated, schedule and released to minimize any impact to the enterprise.

4.        User Training and Support Day to Day Operations

·        Develop user training manuals and other aids to streamline the uptake of the new system or changes.

·        Providing training to users of the new system or information on the enhancements/features introduced.

5.        Resource Management

·        Coordinate the work efforts, scheduling, and prioritization for cross-team resources.

·        Effectively transition knowledge to other members of the team to help grow the organization.

·        Train and mentor other team members in team standards, processes, and methodologies as appropriate.

·        Support the professional development of other team members.

·        Identify relevant training needs for the IT organization.

·        Provide input into the scheduled performance review process.

·        Suggest and lead areas for improvement in internal processes as appropriate.

·        Provide input into the decision-making process for the team.

·        Function as point person on behalf of the team and gain the trust and confidence of other team members as appropriate.

6.        Additional Responsibilities

·        Accountable for properly following all IT standards, processes, and methodologies as applicable including but not limited to Quality Assurance (QA), Project Management Life Cycle (PMLC) and Software Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC).

·        Other responsibilities and accountabilities may be assigned based on business and organization needs.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

 

Education/Certification

  • Two-year college required or applicable trade school or commensurate work experience, four-year college preferred.

 

Qualifications/Experience

  • 8+ years of systems design and test experience with some related leadership experience.
  • Experience working in core distribution business processes such as: Sales to Cash, Procure to Pay, Accounting (AP/AR), and Warehouse Management
  • Ability to understand, communicate, interpret client business processes and requirements.
  • Ability to configure and test with the users.
  • Good to excellent verbal and written communications skills.
