POSITION SUMMARY:

To ensure the proper daily handling and cleaning of parts taken from Formaxes and cubes. The required stoning is effectively done to offset poor patty forming or defects.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Adheres to safety, food safety, quality and legal compliance.
  • Perform all work in accordance with environmental, health and safety standards, rules, regulations and practices of the facility.
  • Must be able to pass training/certifications as required for qualification.
  • Dry clean breather plates, mold plates, anti-lip bars, etc.
  • Clean all small parts in sanitizing solution and stage on clean surface.
  • Systematically remove each plate, inspect edges and stone edges and surfaces as required.
  • Must be able to sand and file burrs from plates and other meat forming parts.
  • Observe and analyze equipment performance and report any problems to the supervisor.
  • Keep area clean and clear of any debris, waste and safety hazard issues.
  • Document completed work as required by the supervisor.
  • Compliance with all other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

         - None.

 

PHYSICAL AND VISUAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Lift, handle and carry tools, plates and other machine parts.
  • Work with chemicals.
  • Ability to visually differentiate items of color, up close and in the distance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment and/or clothing.
  • Stand/walk 7 or more hours per day.
  • Constantly reach, twist/turn, talk/hear, and taste/smell.
  • Constantly use eye/hand and eye/hand/foot coordination when inspecting and handling equipment as well as navigating/cleaning machinery.
  • Frequently squat, bend, handle/finger, and grip/grasp.
  • Frequently lift up to 25 lbs from floor to overhead and carry up to 100 feet.
  • Frequently lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist and carry up to 100 feet.
  • Occasionally knee/crawl, climb and use fine motor tasks.
  • Occasionally lift up to 100 lbs from floor to overhead and carry up to 20 feet.
  • Push tool cart requiring 35 lbs of force up to 100 feet.
  • Pull water hose requiring 25 lbs of force up to 50 feet.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.

ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS:

  • Constantly work in damp, wet, humid and slippery environments.
  • Constantly work near moving machinery with fumes or airborne debris.
  • Constantly work with toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Constantly work in extreme heat/cold (40-90 degrees).
  • Constantly work in high noise levels requiring hearing protection.
  • Occasionally work in high places.
  • Occasionally use hand tools causing segmental vibration.

MACHINES/TOOLS/EQUIPMENT/SOFTWARE

  • Bump cap, hair net, safety glasses, hearing protection, and smock.
  • Rubber and cotton gloves.
  • Sanding and filing tools.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of handling calipers, micrometers and other tooling equipment necessary.
  • Knowledge of correcting metallic defects or abrasion to precision equipment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one small group situations to customers, clients, and other team members of the organization.
  • Ability to use effective problem solving skills.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to use mathematical functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in accordance with production paperwork.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.
