Established in 2006 as a division of Golden State Foods, Quality Custom Distribution (QCD) provides custom distribution services to iconic customers throughout the United States. Headquartered in Frisco, Texas, QCD is values-based and services thousands of restaurants throughout the U.S. Today, QCD provides over 17,000 deliveries a week from 25+ Distribution Centers strategically located throughout the country. Our dynamic teams ensure our customers receive best in class service and our Accounting team is an integral component.

 

 

Job Summary:

 

The accounting department partners with leaders and monitors revenues and expenses to ensure maximum profitability is achieved. The department prepares financial and statistical reports for use internally and by other departments. All general accounting functions are performed, ensuring accuracy, thoroughness, and timeliness.

 

We have three regions (East, Central, and West) and each person is responsible for the accounting for up to 5 distribution centers. Staff and Senior Accountants report to a Regional Accounting Manager.

We will look at recent college graduates and people with 1-2 years experience. Ideal experience includes inventory accounting and full cycle accounting with period-end closing experience.

Balance sheet account reconciliations experience and journal entry prep experience desired.

 

Responsibilities

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Prepare and enter journals, ensure proper coding of revenues, expenses, and balance sheet items, including line of business and distribution locations. Responsible for Month End, Quarter End, and Year End journal entries for 2-3 distribution centers.
  • Responsible for monthly financial statement preparation and analysis. This includes preparing and analyzing business reports, P&L trend analysis, P&L vs. budget analysis, and detailed expense and revenue account analytics.
  • Responsible for timely preparation and reconciliation of multiple distribution center’s balance sheet accounts. Analyzes balances for accuracy and provides appropriate documentation.
  • Analyzes weekly profit margin reports for accuracy and makes adjustments when required.
  • Partners with distribution center’s management team. This includes weekly communication regarding inventory adjustments, capital expenditures, weekly expense and revenue review. Ad hoc reporting provided to distribution centers as needed.
  • Performs daily inventory reconciliations, inventory adjustment analysis, and assists with physical inventory counts as needed.
  • Assists in annual budget process.
  • Prepares business license returns.
  • Recommends process improvements.
  • Makes recommendations to distribution centers to reduce costs and enhance revenue.
  • Assist in annual external audit.
  • Expense report review.
  • Other tasks as directed by Regional Accounting Manager.

Qualifications

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and experience equivalent to:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited university. Expecting graduation shortly will be considered.
  • Up to 2 years’ experience in accounting or related field (recent graduate with internships would be considered)
  • Experience with inventory accounting, month-end close, balance sheet account reconciliations, journal entries preferred
  • Accrual accounting in accordance with GAAP
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Advanced Excel, proficient in other Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Power Point)

 

Preferred Experience / Qualifications:

  • High level of customer service with excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to show good judgement and strong problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated, takes initiative, follow through, and works independently
  • Experience preparing multi-unit financials
  • Experience in financial statement preparation & balance sheet reconciliations
  • Experience in financial statement analysis
  • Preferred CPA/CMA or experience equivalent
