Overview

The QCD Senior Manager, Training and Learning will lead and implement the development of a training and learning strategy for all QCD Distribution Centers and Shared Services associates and leaders to drive best in class operations and a positive learning culture. This role’s reach will impact over 2,700 hourly associates and approximately 300 leaders.

 

The ideal candidate for this role is an experienced and passionate leader who cares deeply about developing others to succeed and is excited by the opportunity to create innovative, relevant, data-driven learning experiences for new and experienced associates across QCD.

 

In partnership with operations leaders, this position will introduce and lead the QCD Training and Learning function, oversee the development and implementation of standardized operating procedures for key roles, particularly hourly roles such as warehouse and driver associates, and utilize technology and data to lead the training of associates. In addition, will introduce relevant training KPIs to allow location and executive leaders to monitor progress, continuously improve, and ensure training compliance.

 

The Senior Manager, Training and Learning will maintain a healthy external network to stay in tune with learning trends, systems, vendors, technology and continuous improvement processes to ensure relevancy, and will measure the success of the programs implemented and iterate accordingly.

Responsibilities

Day in the Life:

  • Develop the QCD strategy and organizational structure for training and learning by leveraging existing programs and weaving in outside, innovative thinking and best practices
  • Develop relationships with operations and shared services leaders to understand pain points of existing operations and training programs to develop the roadmap for 2023 and beyond
  • Lead design, development and delivery of standard operating procedures by role, training programs and standards
  • In partnership with operations leaders, consistently evaluate, iterate and innovate learning and training programs to ensure best-in-class offerings that will elevate and simplify the associate experience
  • Utilize technology to develop and provide the organization with training-specific KPIs, reporting and compliance metrics to understand training progress, completion and gaps
  • Consult with QCD executive leaders, customer teams, and cross functional partners such as Human Resources and Safety to analyze learning and development needs across all areas of the business
  • Coach, lead and grow a team of passionate training and learning team members who analyze, design, develop, implement and monitor the sustainability of learning solutions for associates
  • Monitor operational performance and industry trends as they relate to learning and development and continuously look for ways to innovate, making recommendations to enhance, further leverage digital technology and maximize the development of our teams
  • Collaborate with operations and shared services leaders to identify training and development opportunities and share best practices
  • Partner and collaborate with peers across GSF business groups to leverage learnings and share best practices

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in operations or continuous improvement, particularly in the development, practice and/or training of standard operating procedures within a distribution environment, particularly supporting warehouse and driver associates
  • 7+ years of experience leading a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to think strategically, and a demonstrated track record of implementing scalable solutions that meet current business training needs
  • Strong project management skills, including a proven track record of leading large, complex projects
  • Strong teaching, training and presentation skills, comfort with speaking publicly with audiences of all sizes
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Advanced degree preferred – Major in Instructional Design, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Organizational Effectiveness or Human Resources Management preferred

  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with associates verbally and in writing
  • Interact effectively with associates at all organizational levels
  • Prepare and deliver presentations
  • Ability to travel frequently across the U.S. to various Distribution Centers as required to partner, conduct training, support associate development, attend meetings and other work-related opportunities
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to potentially include some nights and weekends, as appropriate
  • Work effectively in a general business environment, with a focus on high levels of quality and customer service
